A new director in the group

Annenberg Property Group’s directors Dudley Annenberg and Andries Louw are proud to announce the appointment of a new director to the group - Andrew Jefferson.

Andrew was asked to comment on his new appointment and what it means to him.

“Being appointed to join Dudley Annenberg and Andries Louw as a director of Annenberg Property Group was a fantastic day for me. Dudley has been involved in the industry for over 35 years and is one of the most successful brokers in commercial property, whilst Andries is an extremely driven and thorough individual and is instrumental in pushing us to be one of the most successful brokerages in Cape Town.

I look forward to adding value to the team and to help take the company to new heights.”

A brief overview of Andrew’s journey into the industry.

I remember being asked a question when I was 13 years old at what I wanted to be when I grew up. “Entrepreneur!” was my answer. OK, well entrepreneur doing what?

The thing that I realised even at that age was that I would never be bound to a desk with a limited pay cheque at the end of every month. I wanted the excitement of getting out into the market and my monthly income would be determined by no-one but myself.

I met Steven Ruffel in my travels who would become my business partner for the next 9 years. We started up various ventures within South Africa and in London and always concentrated on sales. We ended up running a team of door-to-door gas and electricity salesmen in London, which despite being the worst job I have had in my life (and there have been many, including packing fruit and vegetables at 13 years old at my local Pick & Pay) was the best thing that could have happened to me. Once you have come from a job of hard selling and even harder rejection, the rest comes easily.

Steven and I joined a commercial property company based in the Southern Suburbs in 2003. We both worked under the directors there and took to the job like a duck to water. Dealing with landlords and tenants as well as brokering deals was something that we both enjoyed.

We made the decision to join up with Annenberg Property Group in 2005 after meeting with the company. Annenberg changed my focus from selling anything and everything to being an area specific broker and ensuring that I became intimately knowledgeable about a specific area. This focus is one of the core factors of our success as a company. Our motto of “understanding client needs” begins with understanding every facet of an area, understanding the specific requirements of an individual client and matching them to the right property.

The Annenberg team wishes Andrew all the best in his new capacity within the company.
